Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Fall Leaves

Fall is in full swing in my part of the country. Leaves are turning now and the nights are getting a little crisp. Yeah....my favorite time of year. Speaking of leaves....I thought this week we would look at Etsy to find some vintage fall leaves that you might want to use for your fall decorating. :)

Over at EBS Vintage Home I found these really pretty leaded glass fall leaves. You could lay them on your table or even put them in a flower arrangement.

These three bowls from BlueSeptemberRain would really work nice for nut and candy bowls and you can add them to your decorating.

Look at this adorable little mouse that I found from Ihaveoldstuff. I am not partial to mice, but this guy is really cute. :)

And Fall decorating would not be the same without a nice fall scene painting on your wall. How about this one from Vintage Inquistor.

These are few fall leaf items I found. I just love all the fall colors and love sewing and decorating with them.

Happy decorating!

Colleen :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Pumpkin Coasters

Following the Autumn theme (can you tell I just love Fall! LOL!) we are going to keep on rolling with pumpkins. (pun not intended. LOL!)

Do you have a lot of fall colored fabrics in your scrap pile? If so, Brandi from abrandicreation is going to show us how to make really cute pumpkin coaster that you can use that fabric stash on. :)

These look really easy to make and you can make coasters for every season like Christmas ornaments, Easter eggs, hearts for Valentine Day to name a few, if you want. :)

Happy sewing!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Pumpkins

Well the pumpkins are starting to ripen and pretty soon they will be showing up by the bazillions at the stores and in the Farmer's Market. Pumpkins are a sure sign that fall is here. So I think today we will look at some vintage pumpkins on Etsy.

It is getting to be time to be drinking that tea. You can use this tea pot and sugar and creamer that LizzyJeansAttic has.

Are you planning on making sugar cookies for your Halloween party? Well how about making some giant pumpkin cookies. You can find this cookie cutter at MyForgottenTreasures.

Now if you make those sugar cookies you can put them in this vintage cookie jar from HappyVintageStudio.

So now we need a tablecloth to cover that table so that we can put all our pumpkins on it and UncleBunksTrunk has this one.

Lots of vintage pumpkins that you can use to do your Fall decorating!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Fall Decorating and Hurricane Vases

Well made it to September and the start of my favorite time of year. I LOVE FALL! I love all the colors of autumn and all the decorating, sewing and crafting you can do during the fall. I thought we would start with some fall leaf decorating with hurricane vases. Amanda Jane Brown shows us how she made a fall decoration using hurricane vases, candles, corn and leaves. Looks really nice and "easy". Yep....my kind of project. :)

So get started on your fall decorating with a nice centerpiece like this.

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Upcycle Your Fall

Ok....it is official Fall now so we can really get going on the fall decorating. Why not use some upcycled decorations for your fall decor. What better place to find some upcycled items than Etsy. Let's take a look.......

Pumpkins are a big part of fall decorating and this pumpkin that RekindledPleasures has is made from a chenille bedspread. I remember those types of bedspreads! Very cute pumpkin.

Fall and Halloween go hand in hand and if you like the primitive wood look in your decorating these barnwood candy cane and ghosts from LnMPrimitives would fit the bill for both fall and Halloween decorating.

We have to have something for the walls and this banner and garland that PeonyandThistles has was made from a British book of flora and fauna. How pretty are these paintings. Just gorgeous!

And look at these cute little recycled jars! They would be so cute sitting on a shelf or on your windowsill. AnnsArtShoppe has these cute little things.

So these are just a few of the items I found on Etsy to help decorating your fall home. Amazing how people come up with ideas to recycle!

Have a great week and happy decorating!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Sunflowers

Sunflowers are a big part of fall to me and there are a lot of them during the fall so I thought we would look at some vintage sunflowers this week from Etsy........

Sunflowers are so bright and colorful just like in the bowl from SCTreasureHunt.

Look at these cute wall plaques from VintageQuinnGifts. Those are the cutest sunflower and corn on the cob. :)

I really like this sunflower pitcher from JustClickThreeTimes. Wouldn't it make a great vase for some real sunflowers or you could use silk sunflowers also.

Do you like vintage jewelry? If so, this brooch from Cleoras is really nice. I really like the colors on this brooch.

There are lots of vintage sunflower items once you start to look for them. You might want to check out Etsy for all of the vintage sunflowers and see what you an find. :)

Have a great week!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Fall Vintage Wreaths

Wreaths are a good way to add to your fall decorating. You can see all the beautiful colors of fall in a wreath. So with that said....I thought we would visit Etsy and see what vintage fall wreaths we can find......:)

Acorns are a big part of the fall scene. They are used in all sorts of autumn designs. This wreath from lilibetdesigns has lots of acorns and some squash too.

Of course this time of year we see lots of scarecrows sitting in the gardens that have been harvested. Why not have one hang on your door with this cute wreath from Stoneponies. How cute is he. :)

I remember all the twigs and berry decors from a few years ago don't you. This twig wreath has all the fall colors. You can find it at HitorMissTreasures

This one isn't exactly your normal wreath of leaves and fruit, but I really like the barbed wire design and all you need to do is put a fall colors ribbon on it like it shows at WoodsorrelDixie. Actually several years ago we made some of these type of wreaths to sell. :)
They are great for a rustic decor.

These are just a few of the vintage wreaths that are out there. I am sure you can check your local antique store and malls and you should be able to find some nice one's. :)

Have a great week!

I love fall and I love to decorate my house for fall. I just love all the fall colors. I don't have a really big house that I can have a lot of decorations, but I do get a few out. If you have a table or mantel that you need to decorate how about doing something like this video shows. Looks very easy and you probably can find all the supplies at your local craft store.

Enjoy!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Almost November

Well Halloween is this week and after all the festivities of that day we will be on to November and what is November.....Thanksgiving! Well for all of our USA friends that is. :)

I thought I would start with some decorating ideas for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Now I definitely don't have a table like this or the size of table, but I am sure many of you do so I thought this is really a nice centerpiece for a table. FarAboveRubies has some really nice centerpieces to check out.

Fall leaves are always good for fall decorating and what is nice is that you can carry them over to Thanksgiving decorating also. Here is a great idea to use jars and battery lights from MumsMakeList.

I am sure many of you have fireplaces with mantels and if you do those are always nice places to do lots of neat decorating. This mantel decorations from AmericanProfile shows a great way to decorate that mantel. And it looks pretty easy.

Then if you are me I always like goofy and whimsical things to put on the door and JustPlainAdorable has this really cute door hanger! I just love it!

So if you like to go all out for Thanksgiving or just put a few items around there are so many ideas you can come up with. This is just a few of the many.

Have fun decorating!

Colleen :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Autumn Quilts

Now that fall is officially here and the temps are beginning to drop it will be getting a little chilly at night time so what is a better way to keep away the cool temps? Why it is a quilt! :) Here are a few beautiful autumn themed quilts from the artist of Etsy. The colors of fall are so gorgeous (my favorite time of year!) and these artists have truly made the colors pop!

This quilt from Quilted Pleasures show some really pretty leaves and great contrasting black and orange colors.

JennyMQuilts also has all the colors of fall in this lap quilt.

Now....what is one of the most recognized things of fall....yep....pumpkins and AQuiltingV has a whole patch of pumpkins on this beautiful quilt.

So...do you want to get really energetic and really get involved in making a beautiful fall quilt? Well if so take a look at this quilt kit from Quilters Paradise. WOW....what a beautiful quilt....a bit over my head, but I bet some of you quilters could whip this up in no time. :)

Wish I had more time to do make lots of autumn quilts and I do love looking at all of them and all the great fall colors. So get those quilting needles out and get busy sewing. :)

Happy sewing!

Colleen :)

Needles-n-Pins: How To Make Fall Leaves

I think one of the prettiest things about fall is all the colors of the leaves and plants. There are so many trees and different leaves and they all turn a different color. Bringing those leaves and colors into your home for your fall decorating can really add a splash of color to your home.

Since I love to decorate for fall I was looking for ways to make some fall leaves and thought I would share some of the ideas I found with you.

Now I am a crocheter so I thought I would start with this one. Craftstylish has this great tutorial on how to crochet these cute leaves.

Burlap items are very popular right now so I thought...hey....why not make some fall leaves out of burlap. Fox Hollow Cottage will show you how to do this.

Looks at these pretty glittery leaves! And they are sooooooooooooo easy to make!  6th Street Design School will show you how to make these. I think I could even do this! :)

My true love is quilts. I love to make quilts and quilted items although time restraints keep me from this at times. Here is a great tutorial from Buttons And Butterflies on how to make quilted fall leaf pot holders. I think I will try this one myself.

Looking at all these tutorials really makes me want to get started on making some fall leaves for my decorating. Hmmmmm.....which one should I start with....let me see. :)

Happy sewing and crafting!

Colleen :)
