Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Sunflowers

I know it is only the middle of August, but you know I start to think about fall this time of year and the flowers are starting to die away a little bit. This time of year makes me think of late summer and sunflowers so I thought I would look at some vintage sunflower things on Etsy. So let's go see what we can find. :)

I use to have a casserole dish like this, but mine didn't have these sunflowers on them. Pretty colorful dish from ShowMeShabby.

Here is a nice sunflower tin from MtnLaurelVintage. You could use this tin for storing a number of things.

Are you going to have a fall picnic? Use this sunflower tablecloth from PriscillasHierlooms. Very colorful and lots of sunflowers on it.

Now this is a vintage t-shirt I would like. Look at the colorful sunflowers! You can get this one from skippyhaha

There are lots of vintage sunflower items available on Etsy so why not go on over and take a peek. :)

Have a great week!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Spring

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter spending time with family and friends. Spring is in full swing so I thought we would start the Springs season by doing some decorating with vintage Spring items from Etsy.

Here is a cute little chick from PamelasCottage. Love the yellow color and look at those eyes!

Look at the beautiful colors in this print from WHaroldHancock. I just love all the pastels. You could hang this on your wall to bring a little of the outdoors in. :)

Oh my.....what beautiful lavender flowers on these tea cups from TimesPast72. If you don't want to just have them as tea cups, I know some people use tea cups to put fancy pin cushions in them also. You might want to try that.

Talk about relaxing under a tree! Makes you want to just jump into this figurine and relax. This is from KitschyCollection.

So these are a few vintage items I found that you could use for getting a start on your Spring decorating.

Have a great week!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Valentine's

I always like to look at things from yesteryear...yes....I am aging myself. LOL! :) I thought with Valentine's Day just around the corner we could look at some vintage Valentine's Day from Etsy.........

Of course  you can't look back at vintage Valentine's Day without showing the cards that all of us from way back when use to give to our school mates. This is a nice collection from smileitsvintage.

How about this really cute bell figure with all it's hearts that AvasHopeChest has. It is so cute and colorful.

Remember the chocolate boxes they use to have? This one from pinkchicboutique shows just how elaborate they were. Very pretty.

How about this fold out Valentine's card from the 1900's that talkingbirdie has! Talk about elaborate and detailed. They really made some neat things back then. :)

Well these are just a few of the vintage Valentine's that I found to go down memory lane. Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Snowmen

Now that the holidays are over, and I hope everyone had a great holiday season, it is time to settle down into winter. And what is one of the best signs of winter....yep.....snowmen! Love those little snowmen! What's good about snowmen is you can have them at Christmas and also throughout the winter decorating season. There are so many different kinds of snowmen to decorate with, but let's look at some vintage snowmen from Etsy. :)

Winter is time for hot chocolate on those cold days and you can use these snowmen mugs from tikichef to serve up that mug of hot chocolate.

If you still have cookies to put out or are still making cookies you can use these really cute snowmen plates from JVCollectiblesVT to put the cookies on.

Look at these adorable snowmen from HarmonDesignsLLC. They are so cute. You can put them on your table or shelf. Such cute faces. :)

How adorable are these salt and pepper shakers of Mr. & Mrs. Snowman. They would go good on your kitchen table. You can find them at BrooklynBloom

I could just go on and on with the snowmen. I still have several sitting around my house for winter. How about you??? :)

Have fun decorating!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Thanksgiving Table

Time to get those Thanksgiving tables decorated. Or at least think about it. LOL!. I thought I would take a look at Etsy and find some vintage items for your Thanksgiving table and bring back the yesteryear's.

First we need a tablecloth to cover our table and pinehaven2 has this really colorful one.

Then we need a centerpiece for our table. Cornucopia's always make a nice centerpiece for a table and TheGayDivorcee has this one.

Candles are always good for the Thanksgiving table and you can't have a vintage Thanksgiving table with out the traditional turkey candles. :)  Check out this nice pair from JoAnntiques

And last we need to have a HUGE platter for that very large turkey you will be having. This beautiful platter from vintagerose1234 has some really pretty graphics on it you almost don't want to put the turkey on it.

What kind of Thanksgiving table do you set? If you go all out there are a lot of really nice vintage items to use. If you are like us it is TV trays in front of the chair! LOL! Whichever it is have fun decorating.

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Pumpkins

Well the pumpkins are starting to ripen and pretty soon they will be showing up by the bazillions at the stores and in the Farmer's Market. Pumpkins are a sure sign that fall is here. So I think today we will look at some vintage pumpkins on Etsy.

It is getting to be time to be drinking that tea. You can use this tea pot and sugar and creamer that LizzyJeansAttic has.

Are you planning on making sugar cookies for your Halloween party? Well how about making some giant pumpkin cookies. You can find this cookie cutter at MyForgottenTreasures.

Now if you make those sugar cookies you can put them in this vintage cookie jar from HappyVintageStudio.

So now we need a tablecloth to cover that table so that we can put all our pumpkins on it and UncleBunksTrunk has this one.

Lots of vintage pumpkins that you can use to do your Fall decorating!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Ghosts

Halloween will be here next week. Can't believe how fast time rolls on. I thought since there is still a little bit of Halloween time left we would look at some vintage ghosts and witches from Etsy. Maybe you will get some ideas for next year's decorating. :)

Well what more is a icon of Halloween, but pumpkins and ghost just like this one from MidCenturyQueen. Love the look on the ghost. :)

Do you need a plate to put some of that Halloween candy in? Take a look at this one from WeaverVintageCharm. Looks scary to me.

So are you thinking of dressing up next year as a witch? Well you can get started on that costume with these vintage witches shoes from ReluctantDamsel. Look like the real thing to me. :)

Ok....now we need to have some witches brew for Halloween for sure and this pot from CandilandArt has the perfect vintage pot for making this brew. Now....what shall we put in it? :)

So if you are already to go for Halloween this year or already planning for next year I hope everyone has a great Halloween!

Happy Haunting!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Sunflowers

Sunflowers are a big part of fall to me and there are a lot of them during the fall so I thought we would look at some vintage sunflowers this week from Etsy........

Sunflowers are so bright and colorful just like in the bowl from SCTreasureHunt.

Look at these cute wall plaques from VintageQuinnGifts. Those are the cutest sunflower and corn on the cob. :)

I really like this sunflower pitcher from JustClickThreeTimes. Wouldn't it make a great vase for some real sunflowers or you could use silk sunflowers also.

Do you like vintage jewelry? If so, this brooch from Cleoras is really nice. I really like the colors on this brooch.

There are lots of vintage sunflower items once you start to look for them. You might want to check out Etsy for all of the vintage sunflowers and see what you an find. :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Lunch Boxes

I think school will be starting soon for lots of kiddo's. My grandkids start pretty soon too. I am sure some of you remember taking your lunch to school in those neat lunchboxes that were from our favorite cartoons and characters. (Oh oh.....I am aging myself again!). I think I had a Barbie lunchbox. :)

So I thought we could look at some vintage lunchboxes and all their colorful character's and take a walk down memory lane again. :)

Ok...so I am going to age myself again. The TV movie Gunsmoke was really popular when I was a kid and we use to watch it all the time. This lunchbox from CalloohCallay has this lunchbox showing the actor's from that show.

I remember someone in my class having a lunchbox like this one from KelleyStreetVintage! I always thought it was so neat because it was a barn.

All of us remember Batman and Robin and all the "kapow" and "bangs" that the TV show had. This box from Cosasraras has some great colorful graphics on it.

And then what about all the cute Care Bears stuff like this box from RelicsandRhinestones. My daughter had lots of Care Bear toys. They are so cute.

We could just go on and on with all the vintage lunchboxes out there, but I will stop here. I hope all of you that have school age children have a great school year!

Have a great week!

Colleen :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Travel Time

July is a big travel month for a lot of people. Still plenty of summer left and the kiddo's still have a few weeks off before they start back to school. When my kids were home we took a "family" vacation every year and traveled to explore a new part of the country. We went to see many of the National Parks and National Monuments in the western part of the country since we lived in that area. Now....if you were like me I use to get a post card from everywhere we visited. Hmmmmm...........wonder what happened to all those post cards I picked up. LOL! Well I thought we would go back in time a little bit and take a look at some of the places we visited and get a "vintage" post card from them. :)

One of the best places we visited and I am sure many of you have been there also was the Grand Canyon. We actually hiked to the bottom of it! Oh the days when I was able to do that.....not anymore. (ha!ha!) This post card from XtraThings shows all the pretty colors of the canyon.

Now I am sure a lot of you have been to Mount Rushmore. Very impressive, especially when you drive around the corner and whammo.......there are these huge faces on the rocks! This card from LeesburgVintage shows those faces.

This post card from JACKIGO shows one of the most famous National Park.....Yellowstone. That place is amazing! It has so many different natural wonders that you won't find anywhere else. Actually my daughter and her family just came back from visiting there last week! She said it was still just a great as when she was a kid. :)

One of the last vacations we took before the kids headed off to college was Glacier National Park. It is a very pretty drive over the top and looking at the glaciers. Now.....I must say and I am sorry to say....but now that I live in Alaska and I have these massive glaciers all around me the one's in Glacier National Park aren't quite as big, but years ago when we visited there they were pretty neat. This vintage card from chantaleylace shows some of the magnificent peaks in that park.

I hope you enjoyed the journey back in time to see some of these wonderful wonders in this country. Hmmmm....makes me want to go on a vacation down there again. :)  So if you are still headed out on vacation have a wonderful time and enjoy!

Have a great week!

Colleen :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitchedries: Let's Have A Vintage 4th of July

Fourth of July is coming soon! Hope everyone has some great plans for spending the 4th with family and friends. The 4th of July always brings back memories of the time when I was a kid and we use to light off fireworks around the neighborhood. Now....I will age myself by telling you that when I was a kid everyone had fireworks and we use to light them off everywhere. Now I know that isn't the right thing to do in these days, but we had a blast! And yes....we use to chase each other with Roman candles shooting all over the place and pop bottle rockets we use to shoot out of the bottles at each other! My oh my....can't believe we all survived that! :)

Anyway..........let's take a trip down memory lane with some vintage 4th of July from Etsy.

Fourth of July is all about patriotism, parades, picnics and fireworks. There is nothing more patriotic than the American flag. The HotHouseVintageCo has a really nice one we see here.

If you are going to the parade we need to dress for it. If you have a little girl that needs that special outfit for the parade why not dress her in a dress like this one from September Butterfly.

And then of course after the parade is the picnic. Love picnics!! Here is a picnic basket from TablesGoneWild that I sure some of you remember.

Then we end the day with the fireworks display and this vintage patriotic postcard from EndlessEphemera show what it is all about.

So that is our trip down memory lane. Hope everyone has a fun and blessed 4th of July and enjoy the time with family and friends!

HAPPY 4TH!

Colleen :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage June Weddings

I think June is probably the biggest month for weddings don't you? So if you are planning a June wedding why not do a "vintage" wedding. And where is the best place to look for vintage stuff...yep...Etsy. So let's go see what Etsy has available. :)

First and most important is the wedding dress and DearGolden has this beautiful dress available.

Next we need a wedding cake and that cake will need cake toppers. Look at this cute couple from quirkle. I think they are so cute! :)

Oh I almost forgot!! Along with the wedding dress we need a vintage wedding veil!! Got to have that. Vintage Blue Bird Shop has this really pretty veil.

Table centerpieces are also a must and everyone will have flowers so I thought these vintage bud vases would make pretty centerpieces to put in the middle of the guests tables. I actually have a few of these myself just like oakhillvintage does. :)

So this is a few items you could use for that June wedding. I could go on and on, but this gives you an idea of some of the beautiful vintage wedding items that you could use.

So if you are having a June wedding.....HAPPY WEDDING!

Colleen :)
