Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Sunflowers

I know it is only the middle of August, but you know I start to think about fall this time of year and the flowers are starting to die away a little bit. This time of year makes me think of late summer and sunflowers so I thought I would look at some vintage sunflower things on Etsy. So let's go see what we can find. :)

I use to have a casserole dish like this, but mine didn't have these sunflowers on them. Pretty colorful dish from ShowMeShabby.

Here is a nice sunflower tin from MtnLaurelVintage. You could use this tin for storing a number of things.

Are you going to have a fall picnic? Use this sunflower tablecloth from PriscillasHierlooms. Very colorful and lots of sunflowers on it.

Now this is a vintage t-shirt I would like. Look at the colorful sunflowers! You can get this one from skippyhaha

There are lots of vintage sunflower items available on Etsy so why not go on over and take a peek. :)

Have a great week!

BJ Anthony Designs has this drawstring backpack that was made from a pair corduroy pants. Looks like something the kids would like.

Now I know what I can do with all those old floppy disks that I have sitting in the drawer! ReComputing has this one.

Ok.....I have seen lots of upcycled things, but check out this notebook cover from LeeEmporium. It is made from a potato chip bag!! Now that is different.

This is just a few items I found on Etsy. Why not head on over and see what you can find.

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Upcycle Your Valentine's

So I am sure most of you are really getting tired of winter. Especially if you have been in the cold part of the country. I for one am not having a bad winter at all since this is the first winter since we left Alaska and this winter is a piece of cake. LOL! :)

I know it is only January, but let's start concentrating on some springtime. First thing to think of is Valentine's Day. So let's look at some upcycled items from Etsy that have been made into hearts.

We will start with this rustic red heart from RusticRevelations that they made from a wooden pallet. Turned out really nice.

Now it may still be pretty chilly for some of you and you still need those mittens to keep your hands warm so why not use these mittens from SullysSofties that were made from old sweaters.

This is different. How about a heart necklace made from an old bicycle chain. Pretty neat. This one is from Upcycling4ACause.

Upcycling Mason jars is really popular these days and there are so many different types to make. How about these Valentine's Day jars from MontanaSnow? Looks like that is fairly easy to do.

These are a few ideas of upcycling items to hearts for your Valentine's Day. Gives us a few ideas of how to make some items doesn't it.

Have fun!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Snowmen

Now that the holidays are over, and I hope everyone had a great holiday season, it is time to settle down into winter. And what is one of the best signs of winter....yep.....snowmen! Love those little snowmen! What's good about snowmen is you can have them at Christmas and also throughout the winter decorating season. There are so many different kinds of snowmen to decorate with, but let's look at some vintage snowmen from Etsy. :)

Winter is time for hot chocolate on those cold days and you can use these snowmen mugs from tikichef to serve up that mug of hot chocolate.

If you still have cookies to put out or are still making cookies you can use these really cute snowmen plates from JVCollectiblesVT to put the cookies on.

Look at these adorable snowmen from HarmonDesignsLLC. They are so cute. You can put them on your table or shelf. Such cute faces. :)

How adorable are these salt and pepper shakers of Mr. & Mrs. Snowman. They would go good on your kitchen table. You can find them at BrooklynBloom

I could just go on and on with the snowmen. I still have several sitting around my house for winter. How about you??? :)

Have fun decorating!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Thanksgiving Table

Time to get those Thanksgiving tables decorated. Or at least think about it. LOL!. I thought I would take a look at Etsy and find some vintage items for your Thanksgiving table and bring back the yesteryear's.

First we need a tablecloth to cover our table and pinehaven2 has this really colorful one.

Then we need a centerpiece for our table. Cornucopia's always make a nice centerpiece for a table and TheGayDivorcee has this one.

Candles are always good for the Thanksgiving table and you can't have a vintage Thanksgiving table with out the traditional turkey candles. :)  Check out this nice pair from JoAnntiques

And last we need to have a HUGE platter for that very large turkey you will be having. This beautiful platter from vintagerose1234 has some really pretty graphics on it you almost don't want to put the turkey on it.

What kind of Thanksgiving table do you set? If you go all out there are a lot of really nice vintage items to use. If you are like us it is TV trays in front of the chair! LOL! Whichever it is have fun decorating.

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Repurposed Pumpkins

I know...I know.....more pumpkins, but a few weeks ago we looked at vintage pumpkins so I thought this week we would look at ways people repurpose items into pumpkins. Let's head on over to Etsy. :)

Well will you look at this that RelicsandRhinestones has....now this is a way to repurpose old bed springs! LOL! They look really good with the pumpkins on top.

Here is another neat idea from IronDesignsIowa. They took some tin from an old barn and cut it into a pumpkin shape. If you have a rustic decor this would really look good in it.

Are you planning on having a Halloween or Fall party? If so, how about using these little paper pumpkins from TreeCycledCrafts. They are repurposed books that were turned into pumpkins. They would be good table decorations for your party.

Now here is another clever idea! How about repurposing old horseshoes into a pumpkin like VictoryBarn did! What a great idea!

I can't believe all the things that people can repurpose into pumpkins. When I was looking there were so many really neat things people made. You should take a look at all of them. Gave me some really good ideas! :)

Have a great week!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Pumpkins

Well the pumpkins are starting to ripen and pretty soon they will be showing up by the bazillions at the stores and in the Farmer's Market. Pumpkins are a sure sign that fall is here. So I think today we will look at some vintage pumpkins on Etsy.

It is getting to be time to be drinking that tea. You can use this tea pot and sugar and creamer that LizzyJeansAttic has.

Are you planning on making sugar cookies for your Halloween party? Well how about making some giant pumpkin cookies. You can find this cookie cutter at MyForgottenTreasures.

Now if you make those sugar cookies you can put them in this vintage cookie jar from HappyVintageStudio.

So now we need a tablecloth to cover that table so that we can put all our pumpkins on it and UncleBunksTrunk has this one.

Lots of vintage pumpkins that you can use to do your Fall decorating!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Back To School

I think most kids are heading back to school or have already started. Some of my grandkids won't start till next week. If your kids still need a few things for their "school supplies" why not try some of these upcycled items from Etsy!

Every student needs a back to school new backpack like this one from MegansMark. It is made from leather and denim so should hold up.

Drawstring backpacks are good to carry all the school supplies in and this one from debupcycles looks like it would work good.

This is the ultimate recycled bag for your laptop. It is made from recycled bike tubes and vinyl signs! How neat is that. MoabBagCompany has these.

Does your kid need a new lunch bag. Why not try an upcycled one like this one from MorelandsUpcycling. Looks very colorful! :)

So here we go with another school year. I am sure this one will go as fast as all other one's have. Have a great school year with your kids and grandkids!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Upcylced Sunflowers

Well we are into the later days of summer. Kids are going back to school including my grandkids. In the late summer the sunflowers are in bloom everywhere. Well almost everywhere depending on where you live. LOL! :)

I have always liked sunflowers because they are so colorful so I was wondering how people upcycle items to make sunflower items. So off to Etsy I went. Here are some of the things I found for you to see.

RelovedCreations has made these cute sunflowers out of recycled aluminum cans. I think they turned out really neat.

Do you need a new tote bag and have a sunflower seed bag that is getting empty from feeding the birds? Well you could make a tote like this one from onewomanstudio.

How about this sunflower brooch from pocketfullposies. It is made from recycled zippers! How neat is that!

Ok...for the western and cowboy look how about putting this "yard art" in your yard this fall. RusticHorseShoe makes these out of old horseshoes. :)

I thought it was interesting seeing some of the items people upcycle to make sunflowers. Wish I had that talent. LOL! :)

Have a good week!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Beach

My goodness it has been ages since I have posted on here. Lots has happened since the last time I was here. We moved from the north country of Alaska back down to the lower 48 (as they call it) to be closer to family. Don't know where we will end up, but we keep looking.

Well it has been a hot summer since we moved down. A lot hotter than we are use too! When it is so hot it makes me think of cool water and the beach so I thought we would look at some vintage beach from Etsy.

Well if you are going to the beach you have to have a beach towel to lay on and 3rdgenerationgypsy has this really cute one.

And of course you will need an umbrella to lay under so you don't get too burned. How about this neat umbrella from BelindasStyleShop.

Then we always have to have something to drink so you can keep those beverages cold with this vintage insulated cooler tote bag from GetHookedVintage.

Now the kiddos are going to need a beach ball to throw around on the beach, siffeddotca has this funny one of Popeye! :)

Well where I live know I don't have a beach, but we have lots of rivers that have beaches so I think that will work. If you are headed to a beach...have fun!

Keep cool!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Spring

Don't you just love Spring! I know I do. Everything is waking up from the long winter and getting ready for the summer days. There is still time to do some Spring decorating around your house and maybe use some vintage items for that so let's see what we can find on Etsy.

We can start with a very pretty Spring tablecloth like this very nice hand embroidered one from thespoolroom. I love all the pretty colors of the flowers on this one.

Next we need some nice place mats for our kitchen table. Look at these very colorful and "springy" one's from NiceLandKnolls.

Ooo...ooo.....what better Spring flower than daffodils. I know most of the daffodils may be gone by now, but these are just so pretty you can hang this plate from SweetDaphneVintage on your wall and keep those daffodils around a little longer. :)

Ok...we have the tablecloth and place mats so I guess the last thing we need is a nice centerpiece with pretty spring flowers and TreasuresTimeworn has this beautiful pink flower and crystal basket that you can put on your table. Don't you just love all the colors in this basket!

Well there you have some great ideas for decorating your house with a little Spring still. Up in my neck of the woods Spring hasn't sprung yet, but the snow is gone!!  ðŸ˜„

Happy decorating!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: St. Patty's Day Vintage Style

St. Patrick's Day has been around for a long time and people have been celebrating it for a long time. I thought we would look at all the different items that were available way back when. So let's head off to Etsy Vintage. :)

I just love this little St. Patrick's duck on this mug from MercyMeVintageFinds. He is so cute! :)

Are you planning a St. Patrick's Day party? If so why not have a vintage tablecloth like this one from misshettie. Would look good on your table.

Oh my look at the pretty graphics and colors of this vintage postcard from BerkshireShopGirl! You can frame it and it would make a really nice picture on your shelf.

I am not into jewelry, but I think this emerald ring from Ferguson'sFineJewelry is just so pretty! You can wear this and be the bell of the ball. :)

Just a few vintage items that can be found for St.Patty's Day! Have fun shopping! :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Valentine's

With Valentine's Day next week I thought we would take a look at some vintage Valentine's and see what Valentine's Day was back in the past. Let's go on over to Etsy and see what we can find. :)

I am sure all of you, well the one's in my era and I am not going to tell you how long ago that was. LOL! We use to give Valentine's cards to our classmates. We would get a shoe box with a lid and cut a hole in the lid and decorate the box. Then on Valentine's Day at school we would have our shoe boxes on our desks and all the students would go around the room and put Valentine's cards just like the one here from bostonbaglady in the boxes. That was always fun. Do they still do this nowadays?

I remember getting little candies, sometimes chocolate, sometimes those little hearts with the sayings on them in these little tins like the one from TheLittleThingsVin here. :)

If you had a Valentine's Day party at your house you might have had a decoration like this one from ChristineMsCreations has.

Ok....now I am going to age myself. We always made Valentine's sugar cookies and my mom actually had a cutter just like this one from StripedKat except we had a red handle on it. And you aren't going to believe this, but I still have it and I still make cookies with it for my grandkids!! :)

So this is a few of the vintage items that is out there for you to see or even purchase to do some decorating or cookie baking. :)

Have a good week!

Colleen :)
