Witche's Stitches Painted and Cinnamon Coated Grunged Eggs For Display

I wanted a display of eggs for my table to put in a wooden bowl, so I made some and I love them. They were so easy I made a dozen. Here is what you need and how to do it

Supplies List:

Eggs – craft paint – 2 cheap pie pans – cinnamon and ground cloves – staining wipes – med. Grit sandpaper – clear matt spray -

Step 1 – Decided if you want to use wooden or papier-mâché eggs. You can purchase both at your local craft store. The papier-mâché ones are a bit less expensive. But it is your choice.

Step 2 – Paint the eggs the color you want. I painted mine black and brown. You can paint them any color you want. Pastels for a spring display, red white and blue, black or brown like I did, or any other color you choose.

Step 3 – After all your eggs are painted and have dried sand them a bit with medium grade sandpaper. Sand a little harder in some spots softer in others.

Step 4 – Now stain them. I use staining wipes. You can get them at Lowes Home store or Home Depot. You will find them in the paint department. They are very easy to use and soap and water cleanup.

Step 5 – After you have stained your eggs and they are dry it is time to grung them a bit more. I use cinnamon. You can add some ground cloves too. It is very easy. Get a shallow dish. Use one you use for crafting and not one you use for food. You can get a cheap pie pan at the dollar store. Sprinkle your cinnamon and clove mixture in the pan. Use a good amount, enough to cover the bottom of the pan. Set aside.

Step 6 - Now take your eggs, 4 at a time, and put them in a second pan. Spray them lightly with clear matt spray. Roll them around as you give them a light spray. You do not have to get every spot.  Now quickly add them to the pan with the cinnamon and cloves and roll them round. The mixture will stick to the eggs. When you think they have enough mixture on them, carefully pick them up and place on a piece of wax paper to dry. They should be dry in 15 min. Now just tap the excess and you have great grungy eggs for your spring time display.

Really you can use these any time of the year by adding them to a bowl with seasonal items.
