Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Thanksgiving Table Decorating

I know, I know...not more Thankgiving. LOL! I guess you can tell by now that I like Thanksgiving. I think Thanksgiving just gets left behind with all the hoopla of Christmas coming so I like to give it a little extra recognition. It has always been a time for family to come together for a good dinner and lots of conversation without everyone being just worn out from all the Christmas doings. So with that said...let's decorate the table.

I searched several pins from Pinterest for you and I think I like this one the best from  One Kind Design. Lots of good ideas. So why not take a look and see if you can get some ideas for your Thanksgiving table. :)

Happy decorating!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Thanksgiving Centerpiece Tutorial

Ok...we are going to need a centerpiece for that Thanksgiving table of yours. Why not make one. :)   Normally you would think a turkey would be appropriate, but I think we should do something a little different. How about this really cute little scarecrow for your table. I think he is so cute. Over at the Trendy Tree they have a tutorial on how to make this cute little guy. Looks like they give a really good detail instructions on how to make him. I would make one, but I don't have a Thanksgiving table to put him on. Just hubby and me for Thanksgiving. LOL!

Have fun!

Kidz Korner - Thankful Tree

The month of November always seems to be the time of year when we begin to think about all the things we are thankful for, friends, family, health, etc. It's so important to teach our kidz that they have lots of things to be thankful for as well. Christina at The DIY Mommy has a great tutorial to make a Thankful Tree with your kidz. Why not take the entire month and add thankful leaves to the tree each day? For the complete tutorial, simply click on the photo above.

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Upcycle Your Thanksgiving

Well November is here and Thanksgiving is coming up fast so let's get started on decorating for this holiday with some recycled decor from Etsy.

Pumpkins are still in fashion for another month. :)  So let's take a look at these upcycled pumpkins from JonesDesignShed that are made from sweaters. Very nice pumpkins.

I really like this fall leaf from WaxMenagerie. It is made from recycled wire and newspaper. You could sit it on the table or hang it like an ornament. Great idea!

Look at these upcycled wine bottles that have been painted like candy corn. They are from KorkayKreations. You can use them for your Halloween decorating and then just take them right into Thanksgiving. :)

I really like this upcycled older tray that StudioSugarTree made. Like she said you could changed it out with the seasons.

Looks like there is lots of good ideas for getting your home decorated for Thanksgiving. Don't forget about Thanksgiving and just jump into Christmas decorating as there is still time to do that after Thanksgiving. :)

Happy decorating!

Needles-n-Pins Sticheries: A Vintage Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is getting closer for all the USA folks out there. Are you getting ready for it? Got your turkey's yet? How many of you have something else besides turkey? We are going to look back on the "by gone" years of Thanksgiving and see what we can find in the Etsy stores for some vintage decorating ideas for that Thanksgiving dinner table.

Here we go.......

Oh how many of you remember these!! I DO!! We use to have the one's with the red tail and we put them at each place setting. ElysianVintageMN has these available and you could use them on your table setting too. :)

Definitely have to have a turkey table cloth and shabbyshopgirls has this one you can put on your table.

Every Thanksgiving table should have a turkey centerpiece and this one fromTwistedVictoria has one for you. This one has all the colors you need too. :)

You will need a platter for that turkey. Oh my!!!!! This turkey platter from lanasvintagetreasure is just like the one I had for years! It is the exact same one! LOL!

There are so many more things you will need for your Thanksgiving Day dinner table, and these are just a few that you may use. Hope everyone has a great dinner!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Upcycle Your Thanksgiving

Well we are into November and all the festivities of Halloween are over so now we can concentrate on Thanksgiving. For all our USA folks we need to still celebrate Thanksgiving and not let it get lost in the hustle and bustle of Christmas.

This week I think we will upcycle our Thanksgiving by visiting some Etsy shops. It is amazing all the things I came up with when I searched for this. :)

Pumpkins are not just for Halloween, but they are still part of Thanksgiving also...yep....that pumpkin pie. Look at how TheSnippySisters used repurposed mason jar lids! They make really cute pumpkin decorations.

CarriageonCherry upcycled an old wooden box to make this really nice centerpiece. You could put this on your table or sit in on a fireplace mantle.

How about this idea for a wreath for your door to welcome your friends and family to Thanksgiving dinner. It is made from upcycled coffee filters! Looks pretty good. You can find this wreath at ShadowCatCrafts.

Then look at these recycled crayons from ivylanedesigns! What a great idea to place at everyone's table setting at Thanksgiving! And so colorful too!

So let's not forget Thanksgiving. There are many ideas to use upcycled items for your decorating. Hmmm....makes me think.....what can I find that is vintage. That will be coming another week. :)

Happy decorating!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Turkey Centerpieces Tutorials

Getting closer to the USA holiday of Thanksgiving. Most Thanksgiving tables have turkey for the meal so I thought I would look for some centerpieces that you can make for your table that revolve around turkeys. I must say I found quite a few cute ones. Here are a few that I found....

Here is a cute turkey centerpiece from Bowl of Stamps. This would be nice for the center of your table.

For all you quilters out there here is a great tutorial for a quilt block from MattandShari that I thought would be nice to set on your table and maybe put a bowl on top of. I know it isn't a turkey, but I loved the colors and the looks of it. :)

Now my children are all grown and gone, but I know a lot of you still have your kids at home and if you are like we were the kids had their own table to sit at since we had such big family get togethers. If you do here are some neat kids crafts that you could use for their table from Get Creative Juice.

And then here is another great idea from Martha Stewart. She always has such neat decorating ideas. :)

So whether you have a big festive Thanksgiving dinner or just a small intimate one it is always nice to decorate your table with all the great ideas of "Turkey Day".

Happy creating!

Thanksgiving for our USA friends is a special time of year to be thankful for all the wonderful things we have. Many people get together with family and friends to have a great meal and as some of us do wayyyyyy over eat! :)  And then there is the day full of football if you like to watch the games as we do.

I thought it would be nice to make some a new centerpieces for your Thanksgiving table. I am not real good at doing this so I thought we would visit "Martha" today and watch this video on how to make a beautiful centerpieces with flowers.

I don't know if we have any of these flowers locally up here, but I think some of you might. :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Almost November

Well Halloween is this week and after all the festivities of that day we will be on to November and what is November.....Thanksgiving! Well for all of our USA friends that is. :)

I thought I would start with some decorating ideas for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Now I definitely don't have a table like this or the size of table, but I am sure many of you do so I thought this is really a nice centerpiece for a table. FarAboveRubies has some really nice centerpieces to check out.

Fall leaves are always good for fall decorating and what is nice is that you can carry them over to Thanksgiving decorating also. Here is a great idea to use jars and battery lights from MumsMakeList.

I am sure many of you have fireplaces with mantels and if you do those are always nice places to do lots of neat decorating. This mantel decorations from AmericanProfile shows a great way to decorate that mantel. And it looks pretty easy.

Then if you are me I always like goofy and whimsical things to put on the door and JustPlainAdorable has this really cute door hanger! I just love it!

So if you like to go all out for Thanksgiving or just put a few items around there are so many ideas you can come up with. This is just a few of the many.

Have fun decorating!

Colleen :)
