Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Christmas

Well Thanksgiving is over and we are full force into the Christmas holiday now. Some people already have their homes decorating and some may be like me and wait until after Thanksgiving. So for those of you that are looking for some more decorations for your home why not add some vintage Christmas items. Let's look at Etsy for some decorations. :)

Ok...we need to start with a Christmas tree. Oooo.....oooo...I remember these!! Do you? PinkPickerParty has this one. :)

Oh and these too that jaditekate has! We had these on our trees and I use to watch them for hours. I loved the way they would bubble. Actually several years ago I got some of these for my tree so my kids could watch them also....hmmm.....wonder what happened to them. LOL!

We always had a nativity scene on the table. This one from bonnyhillshop looks a lot like the one we had. I thought the little animals were so cute. Actually my dad who is 96 and still lives at home puts it out every year.

My mother had this exactly candy dish that MyAtticFinds has! She use to put chocolate cover peanut clusters in it!

Oh my................what a trip down memory lane this was for me! I could go on and on finding vintage items that I use to have as a kid. What fun! So if you are going to add to your decorating why not do it with some vintage decorations. :)

Have fun!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: A Vintage Christmas

If you are like me Christmas time brings back memories of when I was a child (many, many, many years ago! haha!) and all the wonderful Christmas's we had with family and friends. From waiting to open presents to the wonderful church services.

I thought today we would check out Etsy and see what we can find to help bring back the memories of Christmas's past.

For all of you who do sugar cookie baking, and I am one of those, do you remember using these cookie cutters like the one's from StoneBridgeWorks...wait......I still use them! :)

Remember sending out all those Christmas cards? How many of you still do this? If you do that is very nice of you to continue to do that. I for one had to stop doing this when I got so busy years ago with life and I just didn't seem to have the time to get everything else done. These cards from TheBrownPear show how pretty the Christmas cards are.

OOOO....OOOO...who remembers these??? I do, I do!!!!! We had these on our tree and I remember watching the bubbles go up and down in them for hours. Actually I still have some of these on my tree. :)  PinkPickerParty has these.

Do you remember these aluminum trees? I do. I had a neighbor who had a big one in her front window and it had blue bulbs on it and she also had a light shining on it. I always thought how pretty it looked. It was a little bigger than this one from PennsVintage, but this one would sit nice on your table.

Oh my......I could go on and on finding all this Christmas vintage, but I need to get busy making those sugar cookies with my vintage cookie cutters. :)

Have a wonderful week and enjoy the season!

Jacquie's Up-Cycle Nation: Quick Holiday Vignettes

Oh the excitement and joy!  Families are gathering and tables are almost ready for festive feasts, laughter, and new memories to be made.  Why not take a few minutes to create centerpiece-worthy table toppers from left over decorations.
Every year the decoration bin bottom grows deeper with broken ornaments, figurines without a village and random offbeat menagerie. It's a sinkhole of misfit décor! But how can one throw sweet pieces in the trash?  Everything has a bright side, right?
By using simple household items the cast-offs can be up-cycled into jolly new holiday vignettes.

Salt, or sugar, in small jars makes a perfect base for glittered candles.
Sculpt large snowdrifts using wool roving, fiberfill, or batting. And any household mirror can be transformed into an instant skate pond.
These wee snow babies lost their original lighted snowscape to one unsupervised pet many holidays ago.  They are so happy to be up and skating again!
Place up-cycled vignettes in the entry, a side table, alongside the appetizers, or anywhere compliments are sure to gather.

A very Merry Christmas to all and to all a good up-cycle!
LOVE  &  UP-CYCLE NATION!!
