Kidz Korner - Veggie Garden

Want your kids to start eating more veggies? Have them help you in the garden!!! Not only will they have great fun digging in the dirt, but watching their precious plants grow and become food for the family is a great reward.

Plants do need markers! Have them find some nice round rocks that are somewhat flat on one side so they lay flat on the ground. Give them some paint and have them make their own veggie markers!

Kristen of Lu Bird Baby shared this idea on her blog. To visit Kristen, click here.

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Upcyled Garden Goodies

I would think some of your gardens are coming along pretty good now. Up here in the north country we have a few more weeks to go before we plant the flowers and outdoor vegie gardens. I thought today we would look at some upcycled items that you can put in your gardens to add a little whimsical flair to them. Let's visit some Etsy shops to see what they have. :)

Every garden, be it flowers or vegie gardens, needs a bird feeder close by and this neat upcylcled Mason Jar bird feeder from RecyclingTime fits the bill for that.

How about this different wind chime. It is made from a recycled water pitcher and spoons for the chimes. How cool would this be hanging on post in your garden! :)

Now every garden area needs a birdhouse to go along with the bird feeder you have. This recycled birdhouse from OutOnALimbADK even has a recycled slate roof. How neat!

And a garden wouldn't be a garden without a sign. How about this upcycled sign! How different is this one. It is made from recycled license plates. What a cool idea. And 1BentKeepsake has this and several other signs made from license plates.

Looks like there are a lot of ideas for goodies for your gardens. Just make a trip to your local thrift store and see what ideas you can come up with or just visit all the great Etsy shops.

Happy Gardening!

Colleen :)

Rolling Storage Crate DIY

Here's a great DIY to help with additional storage! The best thing about these are they can roll under the bed, day bed, closet floor or wherever you have wasted space and need added storage. Make as many or as few as your space can accommodate.
