Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Picnic

Well July is almost upon us. Can't believe how fast the summer goes...AHHHHH!!! I hope everyone is having a good summer so far. Have many of you gone on that picnic yet? We actually haven't gone on one yet, but hopefully one of these days.

The Fourth of July is coming up real soon so there will be lots of picnicking going on so...how are you supplied with picnic supplies? Why not bring back the "good ole days" of picnicking with some vintage picnic supplies from some Etsy shops. Here are a few ideas for you.....

Of course you have to have the traditional picnic basket and I think this wooden one from AnotherSkyVintage shows the traditional wooden basket.

Then of course you have to have the picnic utensils and plates to eat all the good food on. fifisfinds has this set of plates and utensils that will fit just fine in that picnic basket.

Whether you sit on the ground or are sitting at a picnic table you will need a picnic tablecloth. Over at Christinasroom you can find this great traditional picnic tablecloth.

Now...if you are like me and getting too old to sit on the ground at these picnic outings (LOL!) you will need a couple of chairs to sit on. 3sisterstreasures has a couple of picnic chairs that you can use while all the kids are sitting on the ground! :)

So....get those picnic baskets filled and throw everything into to car and get out to that picnic!

Have fun!

Colleen :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Picnic

Well it is the middle of July and summer is half over (boo!hoo!), but the picnic season is in full swing. I thought we would take a stroll down memory lane and look at some vintage picnic items from Etsy shops. Now in my day we called them "antiques", but now I guess they are called "vintage". I know....aging myself!! :)

Every picnic must have a picnic basket....and GirlPickers has this nice vintage one.

Now, if you get really into it and can carry lots of stuff a cooler is a must for all that soda and beer and ShayesChicDecorNMore has this great vintage cooler. I love the color of this. :)

Or how about taking a compact picnic suitcase!! This has everything you need to have a picnic! Now all you need is the food to go with it. WunderFun has this available.

And of course we will need the traditional red and white picnic tablecloth and IslandMarket has the perfect one for you.

Then last, but not least, we need to "dress" for the picnic and how appropriate you would look in this dress from SkinnyandBernie. And for the men going to the picnic how about this great tie from Amy2004Marie! Love the tie! :)

So hope you enjoyed our trip down memory lane of a vintage picnic. Whether you do a vintage picnic or a modern picnic have fun and enjoy your family and friends. :)

Have a great week!

Colleen :)

Tuesday Tutorial ----- Picnic Accessories

Since it is picnic time I thought these tutorials for picnic accessories would come in handy.

I love this net food cover.   Don't you just hate having to put up with flies.   Instructions are on A Spoonful of Sugar.

You won't have to worry about the napkins blowing away if you make this diy napkin holder found on Martha Stewart.

How about this insulated picnic tote found on Sew Mama Sew.
It does double duty as a cold food grocery tote.

And finally,  how about a quilt to sit on.  This one is water resistant by Centsational Girl.
