Needles-N-Pins Stitcheries: 25 Things To Do With Fabric Scraps

We all have that tub of fabric scraps that we think some day I will use all of these scraps to make something. Well if you are like me the tub just keeps filling up and nothing every gets made out of the scraps, but I keep telling myself that someday I will make something out of all these scraps. LOL! :)

I found this blog CrazyLittleProjects that has links to 25 different things to make from your fabric scraps. Some of them are pretty good ideas that maybe I could even do. HA!HA! Take a look and see if there are any projects you could use your fabric stash.

Have a great week and happy sewing!

Needles-N-Pins Stitcheries: Springs Fabrics

Spring has sprung for most everyone now so it is time to get busy making and sewing those spring projects. Spring fabrics are so pretty and the colors are great. I for one love pastels. Pastels are my favorites to work with. I thought today I would show you some spring fabrics from Etsy shops.

Look at this different pattern from the Robert Kaufman Remix collection that ThePalmettoBaby has. I like the colors and design of this fabric.

Cheverons are very popular right now and you can see this one from Annadaisysfabrics. Lots of pretty spring colors in this fabric. You could make a nice pillow from this fabric.

Ok......so Spring is the start of the baseball season. I come from a baseball family so I really like baseball. How about this cute baseball fabric from patontheback. How cute is this for some little boy or girl! Hey, my grandson is a baseball player. He is actually the pitcher. Guess I should use this fabric to make him something. :)

Now Spring wouldn't be spring without all the spring flowers and this fabric from SuesFabricNSupplies has them all.

Looking at all these fabrics makes me think I need to get my Spring fabrics out and get busy sewing...hmmmmm......what shall I make. :)

Have a great day and happy sewing!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Making Valentine Cards

Valentine's Day is just around the corner so we need to get busy making on those Valentine's hearts. If you want to use up some of that stash of fabric you have here is a video from Missouri Quilt Company showing ways to use those scraps to make Valentine's,  that are cute and easy. This is a project you can have the kids help with too. :)

This looks pretty easy! Wish I would have seen this when my kids were at home. :)  Hope you have fun making these.

Happy creating!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Valentine Fabrics

Well Valentine's Day is just around the corner and if you are like me you are scrambling to get some new items made. Why do I always wait to the last minute! AHHHHHH!!!!!

So if you are gearing up to make some items why not check out these Etsy shops for your fabric needs. There are so many great shops to choose from. I buy locally when I can, but if I can't find what I need I always go shopping on Etsy and always find what I am looking for.

So here are a few that I found.........

Carol Ann at fabricsandfrills has this great bundle of matching Valentine's and reds.

How about this great jelly roll fabric from Jambearies. Looks like lots of different Valentine's fabric in this roll.

Now I am partial to country and patchwork so this fat quarter from FabricGiantUSA really caught my eye. I make lots of pot holders and I thought this would make a nice set of those.

Oh I would love to make a pillow out of this picture from mermaidsfabric! It would have to be a small pillow, but how pretty. :)

And last Valentine's Day wouldn't be complete without hearts...and pink hearts at that. I really like this fabric from fabricalacarte. You could use this fabric to make just about anything.

So no matter what you want to make for Valentine's Day let's get started and start sewing! :)

Happy sewing!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: SPOOKTACULAR FABRICS!

This time of year brings out all the ghost and goblins and why not bring out that spooky fabrics also. If you are needing some last minute fabric to finish off those Halloween projects why not check out the fabrics in these Etsy shops.

Witches, witches everywhere in this fabric from SimplyQuiltsCrafts. I love all the witches shoes on this fabric.

The colors of black and orange are a favorite for making Halloween quilts and crafts and RunnStitch has this wonderful collection of black and orange fabrics.

Then there are the spooky skeleton's of Halloween and this fabric from MaggieAnnsFabrics puts a little comical twist to them.

And of course there is the traditional Jack-O-Lanterns! UCanMakeThisToo has this gorgeous fabric that has the Jack-O-Lanterns and everything else to do with Halloween. :)

So where you are needing just a little more fabric or going to try and get that last project made before Halloween the stores on Etsy have every fabric you can think of. I personally am going to start on Thanksgiving I think. Want to get a few of them done before I jump into Christmas.

Have fun and happy sewing!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Easter and Spring Fabrics

I am a quilter at heart and love this time of year with all the pastel colors of Easter and spring. Since Easter is right around the corner it makes me want to make something "springy" and something for Easter. Etsy has so many wonderful shops with great fabrics. If I can't find what I need at my local fabric store I always can find the fabric on Etsy. So with that in mind...let's look at some of the Etsy shops that have some really neat Easter/Spring fabrics.

It just wouldn't be Easter without bunnies and chicks!! I do a lot of fussy cutting in my quilts as there are so many beautiful pictures on the fabric these days so this fabric would be great for that. Alice In Stitches Art has this wonderful fabric for you.

And of course you have to have eggs for Easter! Looks at how pretty these greens and lavenders go together. You can get this at Stitch in Stash.

And look at how pretty this fabric bundle is from Colleen (not me!) over at Cattales has. I have all kinds of ideas I could make with this fabric...hmmmm....may have to try them out. :)

Now if you are really in a hurry and need some applique fabric eggs all ready to go Sew Fun Quilts has these all ready to go. How easy would these be to put them on a quilt or maybe t-shirts for the kiddos. Good idea!

Well showing you all of these really neat fabrics has made me want to get into my sewing room and get busy! Let me see....now.....what can I make.....:)  Hope this helps you get those creative juices going too.

Happy sewing!

Colleen :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: FROM A FAT QUARTER YOU CAN CUT
Hi my name is Colleen Bass and I am the proud owner of Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries . I am so honored to be asked to do some articles for this wonderful blog! I plan on bringing you lots of information on sewing, decorating and some tutorials (if I can get my brain and camera working ok!) that I hope will be fun and informative.
I thought I would start out with this list of squares you can cut from a fat quarter. I know some of you may already know this, but I thought it would be interesting to go over it again. :)

So, did you know that you can cut:

99 – 2” squares

56 – 2.5” squares

42 – 3” squares

30 – 3.5” squares

20 – 4” squares

16 – 4.5” squares

12 – 5” squares

12 – 5.5” squares

9 – 6” squares

6 – 6.5” squares
All I know is that I always end up with lots of squares scattered all over the place when I cut my fabrics!

Now that you know what you can cut out of fat quarters I hope you guys get in those sewing rooms and cut, cut, cut!. Thanks for reading my "first" of many articles and everyone have a really great week!
